Tracing lost works
Wolfgang Jacobi composed about 200 works. Unfortunately many of his early work were lost during the Second World War; others fell victim to Jacobi’s self criticism in his later years and were destroyed. Around 100 compositions have survived.
The Jacobi family is trying to trace the works lost during the turbulences of the war. Jacobi’s early orchestral works are of particular interest – for instance the »Concertino für Violine« op. 27 (1927) or the piano concerto »Dialog« op. 37 (1929) – and his works for electric/
electronic music instruments such as theremin, trautonium or neo-Bechstein. Jacobi’s »Abendphantasie« for Bass and Electric Orchestra (1932) is one of earliest of the few compositions written for »electric Orchestra« in the early 1930s.
But all the other lost works of the period prior to 1945 are of great interest. – It would be marvellous if some of these could be traced.
Should you by any chance have an early Jacobi score in your possession, we would be extremely grateful if you would contact us.
We would also appreciate all advice and ideas regarding our searches. Thank you!
